Summer Professional Development Sign Up

This summer we have a few professional development sessions that would require signing up in order for us to budget accordingly.  While a more detailed 2019-2020 PD calendar will be coming out in the next few weeks, please note these summer events.  Take a moment to consider if you would like to attend these sessions.  If interested please email Sarah Mumm.  Once contractual professional development rates are determined, we will be able to budget for attendees or cap sessions as needed.  If sessions are capped, those that responded first will be given first priority to attend.  Please let us know if you would like to attend and if you are considering pay or in-district credit.

K-5 Writing Calkins Update

Last week we sent out a google form for each school to share what is missing from their current inventory of Calkins materials in order to prepare for next year.  In order to balance being financially responsible with making sure all staff have all materials needed to teach writing with fidelity, we would like all staff to take a moment to do a quick inventory of Lucy Calkins tools in your room.  Please take a moment to review the materials you have in your current classroom by title and share the ones you DO NOT have in your classroom.  We will be sure to purchase the items you need July and get them delivered to your classroom.  We are excited to also offer writing professional development on August 1st at Meredith from 9-2.  Please email Sarah Mumm know if interested in attending.

As our year begins to come to a close, please take time to reflect on your success and thank you peer or staff member in your school.  This professional takes a village and we are truly not only a village but a family.  Not one person is this district could accomplish all that we do alone.  In the rush of the end of the year, stop and take a moment to breathe and reflect on who around you has taken the time to lift you up this year.  Who has pushed you to live your best life.  Who has encouraged you when you needed it the most.  Who has taken a moment to celebrate with you.  It is time to let them know how much they meant to you this year and thank them.  Please send our last few weeks, not only showing the pride you have in your students, but also the pride you have in your peers.  Kaneland students are lucky to have each and every one of you.  Thank you for all you do! 

FREE Hapara Training Classes

Based on our partnership with Hapara during this year's pilot, we are able to offer a few online training classes.  They are totally free and they will build your knowledge in the way around Hapara and giving teachers a way to integrate technology into their classroom without focusing on the monitoring aspect.  Check out this link for course options if interested!  Courses start on the 29th if interested, more may be added in later June.  Here is the link for more information.
