Learning Progress Update

Attached below is the presentation shared with the Board of Education on July 31st. We are pleased to share the overall progress our students have made over the course of the 2022-2023 school year. Through the data collected over the course of the year, we were able to highlight the success of our students as well as identify some priority cohorts to focus on for this year. Many of our individual SIP goals will address some of these needs.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Ed Services. You can also access the recording from the Board meeting on the 31st which went into detail about the presentation.

Academic Update to the Board

NEW Kaneland Connects Commitment Team Structure

We are excited to kick off our Commitment team meetings this year with a more comprehensive structure and increased participation from our staff and community. We will meet as one core team, not by individual commitment. Within this structure, we will have the opportunity to have small breakout groups to focus on different aspects of each commitment. We will be meeting on the following dates at the Kaneland Meredith Academic Center:

  • September 27
  • January 31
  • April 23
If you are interested in being part of this team, please let Ed Services (Sarah 10358@kaneland.org -or- Patrick 11509@kaneland.org) know and we can get you on the roster!

The 10 Tenets of Kaneland Personalized Learning

Welcome to the new school year! We are excited to continue our work with the 10 tenets of personalized learning. As a reminder to our staff, Personalized Learning 3.0 focuses on 10 core tenets of effective instruction for meeting the personal needs of all students. As a reminder, everyone on staff last year have until May 2024 to complete and submit evidence of the tenets. Our new hires, as shared during orientation, you have until May 2025 to complete. These tenets are a great way to kick off your coaching cycles as well!

Tenet 1: The LDIP continuum

The purpose of the LDIP learning continuum is to have fluid progression throughout the unit of study among the LDIP levels depending upon content and student need. As a reminder, the LDIP continuum stands for (L) Legacy, (D) Differentiation, (I) Individualized, and (P) Personalized levels of instruction.

The expectation for this tenet is to show evidence of authentic implementation from your learning environment that exhibits the use of each of the levels of LDIP (legacy, differentiation, individualization, and personalization). Evidence must include multiple artifacts along with a reflection that shares the rationale for the instructional method and LDIP level utilized.

Our Commitments!

Welcome back!  We are excited to kick off a new school year!  We wanted to take a moment to remind all staff of our amazing 5 commitments that make up the Graduate Profile.

MTSS- Multi-Tiered Systems of Support

1:1 Learning

PBP- Proficiency Based Progress

SBG- Standards Based Grading

SEL- Social Emotional Learning

At the start of the school year it is a great time to access and review all PBP tables for your content and grade level.  The tables can be found in the shared google drive.  The tables should be shared with students at the start of the school year to clarify expectations for learning.  Please be sure to review the proficiency and approaching columns of your table and identify what learning for that reported standard should look like in practice.  The start of the school year is a GREAT time to share the table with students and have them share in their own words and begin to plan learning for the standard.  The more clarity in learning at the start of the experience the better!  Please remember to begin to consider how you will be using PBP tables for feedback cycles during the year.

K-5 PBP Tables Drive

6-8 Tables can be accessed through the google drive or contacting your team leaders

9-12 Tables can be accessed through the google drive or contacting your department chair

Updating Rosters Through Infinite Campus

Just an update on the creation of rosters in outside programs such as Hapara, I-Ready, and Wayside.  Clever is the program process that takes our information on rosters from Infinite Campus and distributes it to our online programs.  Clever has been working on reading the data from our new system in order to be able to share out.  Our tech department have been very diligent on the process of checking in on Clever.  We hope clever will be able to read our data and populate in the next week.  Again, we apologize for any inconvenience please be patient.

Feeling Lucky?

We have some more lucky ducks that are extra that have a match out in Kaneland and are looking for someone to go on a hunt for the match.  If you would like an extra lucky duck and try to be able to enter the LARGE raffle twice, please email Sarah Mumm at 10358@kaneland.org for one or two extra chances and ducks!  Good luck!  Trust me it will be worth it to enter the raffle a few times!  We will have a LARGE drawing in December AND May!
