Personalized Learning Academy 3.0
We are excited to kick off the 18-month PL Academy 3.0 journey with everyone! This Academy is the culmination of all the professional development around personalized learning (PL) that has been provided in Kaneland over the past several years and moves us from developing understanding and building knowledge about PL into the implementation and application of ten core PL practices. As you heard many times this past Monday, personalizing is a non-negotiable in all Kaneland learning environments. Academy 3.0 is designed to support staff in meeting this expectation. Ed Services, along with building admin., instructional coaches, and your peers are here to help with anything you need as you work through Academy 3.0. Here are a few additional resources to get you started.

REVISED Learner Profile
THANK YOU to everyone who provided feedback and input into the creation of the newly revised learner profile. We are excited to launch the new, grade-span-specific profiles this fall. Although the structures vary at each grade span, the underlying value and purpose are the same...to support students in developing a deep understanding of themselves as learners through opportunities to self-reflect and advocate for their learning needs. Through our research this past spring and summer, one thing was reiterated continually. The learner profile is the FOUNDATION of ALL personalized practices. If a strong system of learner profiles is not in place, there will be nothing to ground any other PL practice. Students cannot take ownership of their learning if they do not know themselves as learners and are not supported in reflecting on their learning needs. If we do one thing exceptionally, it has to be the learner profile!
Please take a minute to review this brief video introducing the new learner profile. Specific information on each grade span's revised profile will be provided in the near future.

Thank You Technology!
As you welcome students today, we want to make sure we give a huge shoutout to our technology department! With over 4,000 new devices delivered this summer, it is truly amazing the amount of time and work that went into the department getting Chromebooks ready for students and new laptops ready for teachers. Thank you to Tim Wolf and his entire department for their dedication to our 1:1 commitment and for ensuring our students will have access to all information throughout the year!
