March 4th Institute Day

 March 4th Institute Day Schedule

Block 1: District Planned- this portion of the day has been shifted to WIN Time for all staff. Suggestions for this time include meeting with your grade level or department, continuing the drafting proficiency tables, vetting student work against completed tables, or any other tasks that you are in need of time to complete.

Block 2: Building Planned- your building administrator will send your building's specific agenda approximately 1 week in advance.

**Each building has the autonomy to determine which block will be in the am and which will be in the pm. Your building administrator will communicate your specific schedule.

Personalized Learning Steering Committee Joint Statement

The Personalized Learning Steering Committee met last night for their monthly meeting. The team debriefed on their February site visit experiences and spent time identifying how their new learning could be incorporated into the current planning for IgKnight Academy. The team also reviewed Academy logo options, created by students in Fox Valley's Graphics class, and provided input into the communication plan for Academy promotion. The team is close to finalizing plans for the Academy's first year and will begin strongly promoting the Academy in April. Information regarding IgKnight Academy will be shared at all buildings through the spring Roadshows.

Cabinet Monitoring Kaneland Connects

During the month of March, Ad Team and Cabinet members will be stopping by classrooms to see learning in action.  During this time we will be reflecting on the proficiency tables from Kaneland Connects for PBP and SEL.  We are excited to observe student actions and see our progress in these two commitment areas.  These reflections are not focused on teacher actions and are not part of any formal or informal evaluation process.  This also serves as a model of one way to use the proficiency tables.  We look forward to seeing learning in action.

Kaneland Connects Trivia

We hope to begin to review the key commitments of Kaneland Connects over the next few months.  This month we would like to offer a trivia option based on SBG and PBP. Try your luck at which one matches with the commitment.  For each statement share if it falls under SBG or PBP in Kaneland Connects:

1.  Students can set next step learning goals based on learning conferences

2. Students can self-assess and defend their learning progress for each reported standard

3. Students can select the learning environment that best meets their needs

4.  Staff can apply the core cells of the personalized learning philosophy in their classrooms

5.  Students can report levels of proficiency based on the reported standards
