Kaneland Preschool

A note from Tressa in the Special Education Department~

I wanted to share that Kaneland Preschool is officially on the map or "webpage" that is.... Below are different ways to lead families or staff to district preschool information moving forward.

Beginning February 22nd preschool interest applications can be virtually collected in lieu of parents coming to the Young Knight's Fair. Additionally, until March 19th (the last day to accept interest applications) there will be a running banner on the main Kaneland.org site which will lead families to more information.

Proud to be a Knight!

It is also in the top navigation on the KBK website:

EC-5th Grade EAC Joint Statement

Today EAC met for their monthly meeting.  The following were discussion topics:

  • A review of questions posed from the January learning structure and ELA implementation was shared.  Please be sure to review the response document for answers to the posed questions.  We will welcome back third trimester students on February 22nd and are still exploring the structures for next school year.

  • The team took time to review the report card completion guidelines.  Please be sure you use the correct symbols for each portion of the report card starting this second trimester, even if you used a different symbol for the prior trimester.  Reference this guideline document when completing the report cards. Please discard any other cheat sheets you grade level may have previously used.

  • The team reviewed options for completing PBP tables next year.  The expectation is that all Math, Writing, and Reading tables are complete by May 2022.  We will use the EAC feedback to plan sessions starting next school year for grade levels to get back to the completion of the tables.

  • The team took time to discuss the celebrations and questions on co-teaching from this school year.  There is a need for further clarification of how co-teaching will work moving forward and more professional development opportunities.  We will be taking the feedback to CHESS for planning for PD and ideas for next school year.

  • The committee took time to review the upcoming Open House.  At this time we will not have an in person event.  The team brainstormed ideas to meet the after school commitment and share a video open house with families.  We will be having a subgroup of committee members work on the guidelines for the video portion for Open House and sending them out later this month.

  • The team began to look at the assessment levels with language linked to the proficiency tables.  These items will be further discussed in March.

  • The following topics will be on the March agenda as well:

    • Careers Across Kaneland Logistics (grant funded in 2021-22)

    • Graduate Profile Review and Feedback:  Please come prepared to the meeting with initial feedback of the draft version of the Graduate Profile

    • Initial plan for implementing CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE TEACHING AND LEADING STANDARD
