Kaneland Connects Trivia- Week 2

CONGRATS to last week's winner from Blackberry Creek- way to go Stephanie Unger! We had almost 100 correct responses from Week 1. Personalized Learning Vlog: Episode 1

Introducing.....the Personalized Learning Vlog! This is a new feature that we'll include in the Curriculum Connection, approximately once per month. We'll focus on teachers and students as they integrate personalized practices in Kaneland schools. The first episode chronicles Laura learning to vlog. Take a look! 

 

Gamifying Your Learning of Kaneland Connects

 The Educational Service Department is excited to welcome all staff to engage in gamified learning of our Kaneland Connects plan.  If you want to dive deeper into learning about the 5 commitments and the goals for this year's Kaneland Connects Strategic Plan, stop by Meredith Professional Development Center and engage in one (or more) of the gamified learning experiences.  Check out your options to learn more about our Kaneland Connects Plan and the Graduate Profile!

Sign up your team to do the Kaneland Connects Escape Room- Oh the Places You Will Go with Connects.  Contact Sarah Mumm to sign up today.  Our top time leaders will win a prize at the end of each semester.  Right now the EC-5 Instructional Coaches and K-12 Behavior Facilitators are in the lead with 1:03!

Stop by and play a quick game of connect the commitment using the connect 4 board. The game will provide you a chance to recall and discuss the five commitment areas while trying to outwit your opponent.

Bring your energy and play Graduate Profile Run Around.  Try your hand at precision and ping pong while trying to not let the ball drop.  

Or come in and play Dashing Darts where you feel like you are at the carnival trying to pop a balloon but actually are learning keys to this year's plan!

Finally, come and Press Your Luck and pop one cup to have a chance to win points and be on the leaderboard.  Watch out for the Whammy, they will take all your points.  Our current leader is Vida Martin! 

All About Our Knights

 Thank you to all staff that took time to share a little about yourself in the All About Me google form.  We are excited to learn more about our Knights!  Here are just a few fun facts about a few of our staff members.  Can you guess who?

Kaneland Connects Commitment Team Seats Still Available

The Kaneland Connects Commitment Teams are about to begin our meetings for the school year.  We do have a few more seats available for staff or parents to engage in the planning and monitoring of the commitments.  Please contact Sarah Mumm 10358@kaneland.org if you are interested in this paid committee work. 

1:1 Learning- 1 seat (Meets twice, First meeting is 10-28)

SEL- Full at this time (Meets once, First meeting is 3-24)

PBP- 2 seats (Meets four times, First meeting is 8-31)

SBG- 2 seats (Meets twice, First meeting is 11-18)

MTSS- Full at this time (Meets four times, First meeting is 8-24)

K-5 Math Assessment Revision Timeline

 We are excited to share that the Math pre and post tests are under review.  So far only Second Grade is ready to pilot this fall.  Please see the following timeline for this process:

Second grade pilot Fall and May 2021-22, revise in summer

Fifth Grade revision prior to end of first trimester and pilot with some students in May as post

Fourth Grade revision prior to end of second trimester and pilot with some students in May as post

First Grade revision prior to end of third trimester and pilot with some students in May as post

Third Grade- still in discussion, possible revision this year

**All 1-5th grade may be ready to fully implement Fall 2022

Kindergarten- revision in Fall 2022 and pilot in May 

Personalized Learning Academy 2.75 Reminder

Thank you for participating in the first half of Personalized Learning 2.75! Please remember to complete the assigned follow up tasks:

• Complete Personalized Learning Academy part 2 Google form to indicate how you plan to complete the second half of the training. 
• Complete and turn in Page 23, Building a New Definition of the Feedback Process, to Laura Garland, as evidence of completion of part 1. Some buildings were collecting as a group and sending all over in one folder, which works too.
