District Secret Supporters Reveal

 For all staff who have taken part in the district secret supporter program, please take time to reveal yourself to the one you have supported during the last week of school.  We are excited to share who we have supporting and make new connections with staff!  Thank you to all who participated this year!

Survey to Improve PD Offerings

We need your thoughts and reflection on Kaneland PD!  It is essential our staff have a voice in the type of PD and the process of PD for the next few years.  We are working through NIU to collect data on our staff's perception of PD practices in order to continuously improve our offerings.  Please take a moment to complete this quick survey.  Kaneland will not get specific responses, it is anonymous.

SEL Commitment Team Joint Statement

 District SEL Commitment Team Joint Statement


The District SEL Commitment team met for the year-end wrap up meeting. The following topics were discussed:

-Discussed the progress of the 2021-2022 Action items from the strategic plan

-Reviewed the evidence collected throughout the year

-After initially identifying the following statements as proficient, it was decided that the statements were more in the “Approaching Phase” and were re-coded to yellow

Staff can research identifiers of social-emotional need


Staff can review and evaluate social-emotional instructional tools


-The team reviewed the 2022-2023 Action Statements for next year and discussed any further needs/support necessary for action. Next year’s actions are:

  1. Staff can research community support structures available 

    1. The team will look into interactive ways to embed these resources into a website

  2. Staff can conduct student advisory sessions to plan the needs and foundational lessons for grade spans

    1. The team discussed what advisory could look like at each grade span, what structures currently exist, and how to continue to grow these opportunities

  3. The community can identify the wrap-around services available 

  4. The community can identify confidential and safe ways to communicate their needs to the school district

  5. Students can advocate to educators for their learning and social-emotional needs


-The team discussed the importance of common language EC-12 regarding SEL

-Administration will look further into tools to identify developmental benchmarks for SEL 


The SEL Commitment team will be in the “Beginning” phase for the 2022-2023 school year. We will meet four times throughout the year next year. The following are tentative dates for our meetings. 

-October 6th, 2022

-January 26th, 2023

-March 9th, 2023

-May 11th, 2023

Educator of the Year Congratulations!!

Congratulations to all of the Kaneland Educator of the Year nominees! This year's recognition banquet took place on Friday, April 29th, and was a huge success, with Kaneland educators winning multiple categories! Our very own Suzanne Satterfield won in the Middle School Educator category, Dr. Sarah Mumm won in the Administrator category, Jillian Yaggie won the overall Kane County Educator award! It was truly a night to be proud to be a KNIGHT!!
