The Personalized Learning Steering Committee met on Thursday, April 22nd, from 4-6 pm at Meredith. Committee members engaged in a showcase of the research they conducted within an aspect of personalized learning. Topics included developing learner agency, using inquiry units to develop learner voice and choice, self-paced curriculums, student-driven learner profiles, establishing a personalized environment in the first 6 weeks, and structures for student co-construction, among others. At the conclusion of the Showcase, members committed to a small group team. The teams will work through the 2021-2022 school year to move forward with detailed planning for the creation of an IgKnight Academy and infusion of personalized practices in all Kaneland schools.

Update on Teacher Evaluation for Next Year
Based on a few questions posed during the roadshows, here is a Human Resource response to the evaluation cycle:
Please know that the standard evaluation cycle will resume next fall for the 2021/2022 school year. The Evaluation Committee created a Canvas page called All Things Eval last fall with all the forms/expectations that you may have about the revised processes. Please be prepared for your evaluator to schedule informal observations, formal observations, student growth meetings, and summatives in accordance with the yearly schedule.
If Non-Tenured, you would continue to be evaluated yearly. If the 2020/2021 school year was your fourth full=time year in a row, then you would be tenured for the 2021/2022 school year (Congrats!).
If tenured, you would continue on in the two year cycle accordingly. For instance, if you received a rating in 2019/2020, then you would be up for a summative next year. If you received a rating in 2020/2021, then you would start the two year cycle over again in 2021/2022.
If you have any questions on this, please contact Dr. Adkins at x71114.
