Welcome Back!!!

Welcome back from the Department of Educational Services! We've been busy this summer planning for your return. We continue to be housed in the library at Meredith. Feel free to stop by at any time to chat, say hi, or try your hand at one of several games we've developed to help familiarize everyone with our new strategic plan, Kaneland Connects. If you know the Ed Service team at all, you know there will be prizes!! We're looking forward to a productive year!

Institute Day Evaluation and Evidence of Completion Form

Thank you for participating in our first Institute Day. We hope you found it beneficial in getting your year off to a great start! To access your evidence of completion form, use the link found HERE to first complete the session evaluation form. After submitting the evaluation, a link will display to take you to the evidence of completion form. Have a great rest of your week!

MTSS Steering Committee Membership

We are excited to get MTSS planning back on track with the EC-12th grade Steering Committee.  Our first meeting will be coming up on September 29th from 8:05-3:00 at Meredith.  At this time since the committee work was delayed we are not assuming any past members are still interested.  Please let us know your interest in being part of the Steering Committee for MTSS by August 23rd.  We are excited to have the time and planning meetings to make sure a great transition to MTSS.

LEARN Platform

Thank you to everyone for their diligent work in submitting requests into the LEARN platform for the year. Remember, you can access that site HERE. A website/app needs to have a Digital Privacy Agreement (DPA) with us if their sites/apps, at any time, as a student for a username/password. If you as the teacher are using the site to show videos, or if the students can interact with the site and DO NOT need to enter any information, you do not need to submit the request on LEARN.

Additionally, some sites will ask for this information after a set number of visits. Please keep on top of this. If a site is used that has not been requested and approved on LEARN and there is a breach of privacy, the liability falls to the individual. Be sure to stay protected!

Sometimes, the approval of the DPA can take 5-6 weeks, so be sure to plan ahead.

Lastly, we have agreements with 100s of sites. Please note, if we know of a site that has already been approved and is currently in use, you may be directed to that site rather than seek out a new DPA for a redundant site.

Thanks all! Have a great week!!!

Classroom Visits for Educational Service Department

The Educational Service Department is so excited to spend much more time out in the schools and classrooms this year.  We will be guiding our feedback while visiting classrooms using connections to the five commitments of Kaneland Connects. This is not an evaluative document but rather just what I see and notice around the commitments.  We will start our classroom visits (non-evaluative) on August 23rd.  We looking forward to seeing you all and enjoying learning in action!

Key Terms for Kaneland Connects

 Hi All-

As we dive into the commitments of the Kaneland Connects strategic plan, we wanted to point out some key terms that distinguish one commitment from the next. Please note some important differences below with each commitment.

MTSS: intervention, monitoring
*This commitment focuses on data-driven interventions at tier 1, 2, and 3 levels. Interventions are monitored and adjusted over time based on responses shown from the student

PBP: proficiency, pathway/path
*This commitment focuses on showing proficiency in different learning paths. It is the day to day progress through lessons related to the proficiency tables and the feedback process

SBG: assessed, reported
*Different from PBP, this commitment is the actual reporting and assessing of students on a reported standard. It truly is the grading portion.

1:1: technology, application, device
*This commitment focuses on device use and the SAMR model to redefine learning opportunities

SEL: reflect/reflection, needs, care
*This commitment is centred around self-care, and both the needs and care of our stakeholders

We hope this helps as we continue to commit to the growth of our staff and students
