Teacher Resource: Feedback

The HMS Instructional Coaching team recently created and shared this document FEEDBACK on strategies for engaging in feedback conferences with students. The resource is relevant to all grade spans and aligns with Tenet G (Feedback Cycles). Take a peek, it's worth the time!

IgKnight Academy

This spring, Kaneland IgKnight Personalized Learning Academy held a registered student field trip and a registered family Open House. Both events allowed students and families to begin building relationships and to continue learning about IgKnight Academy structures.

There are currently 4 remaining IgKnight Academy spots available for students entering 3rd-5th grades, and 10 spots available for students entering 6th-8th grades in the fall of 2023. If you know of a student interested in IgKnight as a possible placement for next year, please encourage the family to reach out to Laura Garland at 10166@kaneland.org

If interested, the most updated IgKnight Personalized Learning Information Guide can be found HERE.

Certification Reminder

Certification Reminder!  Please be sure to monitor your license status.  Most licenses (Teacher "PEL", CTE, Paraprofessional, Administrative, etc) expire after five years and must be renewed by June 30th of the last year.  Each individual person is on a unique five year cycle, depending on when they obtained their initial certificate.  To renew your license you would need to visit the Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) here.  Beginning April 1st, staff that need to renew may log in, click on the license renewal function, enter your Continuing Professional Development Units (CPDU's) if applicable, pay your fee, and submit.  You would then be renewed for another five years.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Adkins at 75522@kaneland.org or at x71114.  Thank you!

Canva Educator Pro

After a great discussion at a recent roadshow, another staff member (Thank you Jessica) shared that Educators are able to verify they work in a district in order to get Canva Pro.  Here is how!  Check it out.

Get Canva Pro for free by sending proof that you work at Kaneland. Here is a link to more information.

EAC EC-5 Update

EAC met on 4/17/23 for the monthly meeting.  The following were topics discussed.  Feel free to follow up with an EAC member for further clarification:

  • Feedback from March electronic meeting was reviewed and clarified
  • Report Card Trends were analyzed.  EAC will seek feedback from teams about which reported standards are taught during each trimester, and when proficiency is expected for each reported standard.
  • EAC reviewed the 5 commitments and determined levels of proficiency (beginning, progressing, proficient) for each commitment within classrooms.
  • EAC reviewed membership for next year and discussed ways to increase representation at all buildings and grade spans.  Possible agenda topics for 2023-24 were discussed.
  • Members took time to look at Tenet Evidence Wall in KMAC LRC and discuss trends and observations.  There are many different ways teachers are sharing evidence. Teachers are encouraged to visit the evidence wall for ideas!
  • Members discussed learner profiles and shared feedback on what worked, what didn’t work, and supports needed for implementation in classrooms next year.  The only requirement is that all students have a learner profile, teachers and students can determine how that looks in their classrooms.
