Infinite Campus Access Levels Process

We have been in the process of working with the Technology department on how to get everyone the access they need to support students. The process will be as follows:

1) Ed Services and Technology will work on establishing categories of staff based on access needed (i.e. district access, school access, classroom access) and will then set the guidelines accordingly. Our date for doing so is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday the 12th.

2) Once categories are established, we will work with building admin teams to share communication expectations for those that may need certain information (i.e. paraprofessionals or related services getting that info from classroom teachers)

Please do not reach out to Hilary or Jasmine asking for access to certain students or rosters. It will not be granted at this time.

If you do have a specific request, please reach out to Ed Services and we will help to process through how to get the information needed.

K-5 Writing Audits

Now that we are into September it is time to begin our writing audits.  The purpose of the audits is to observe our current writing practices and build a professional development plan to enhance our practice.  Our outside consultant will be collecting audit data and it is non-evaluative.  The writing consultant will be present in schools for initial audits on the following dates:  9-7, 9-8, 9-11, 9-12, 9-13, 9-14, 9-15, 9-19, 9-20.  Please remember this is initial data in order to plan next steps for writer's workshop implementation.  Writing has been our lowest achievement area for a few years across the schools, and we are eager to assess our practices to better focus on student learning.  If you have any questions at all please contact Sarah Mumm.

K-5 Report Cards

Now that we have headed into the second month of school, it is time to begin to think about formal assessment through SBG for trimester report card time. Last year EAC took time to gather information on when each of the reported standards should be assessed (which trimester).  While the report card template is still being crafted in Infinite Campus, we do have a listing of all final language that will appear.  Please see the links below for information that can help you begin to plan what to assess and when.

Personalized Learning Audits

We hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend.  As we turn the calendar to September we are wanting to share exciting news on personalized learning.  Historically Kaneland has partnered with the Institute for Personalized Learning to conduct audits in our schools.  The institute has been on campus doing audits twice over the last 10 years.  This year we are excited to be able to conduct the audits internally and with an external local school district partner.  Starting in September we will be having various stakeholder groups from Admin, Coaches, SIP Team Members, External Teachers, Cabinet, Coordinators, and other Staff conduct personalized learning audits.  They will be coming around to random rooms and schools throughout September to April using this template with the purpose of collecting observational data on our implementation of the 10 personalized learning tenets.  This is non-evaluative in nature but rather a way (just like past audits) to collect information to determine next steps in our personalizing journey.  The staff member conducting the audit may be in your room around 15-20 mins.  We are excited to see personalized learning in action in all schools based on the work of the Kaneland Connects Strategic Plan!  If you have any questions at all please contact the Department of Educational Service.

Guest Writer

This year our Curriculum Connection Blog is wanting to expand our articles.  We are looking to include once per month a guest writer feature post.  We are hoping to connect with our staff in classrooms and schools to be able to write a short article about learning in action to share with the district.  There are so many unbelievable opportunities in learning here for our students we would like to shout out and share a few this year!  If you have an article you would like to submit please email it to Sarah Mumm at 10358@kaneland.org.  We look forward to reading our guest writer articles!  Let's connect and share our celebrations in learning.

Lucky Duck

The prize pot is growing!!  The last three weeks we have had no luck giving away the weekly lucky duck prize away!  Check your numbers and see if you have lucky duck number 146!!!  Email Sarah Mumm at 10358@kaneland.org if you are a lucky winner!

K-5 Writing Audits Begin!

As shared in the Spring Roadshow, we are conducting writing workshop audits at K-5 schools in September and April/May.  An outside consultant, Anne Olsen (former Kaneland staff member) will be conducting the audits in all core classrooms.  The purpose of the writing audits is to create a feedback picture of our writing practices as a whole district and school in order to plan professional development to support staff.  These are non-evaluative data collection practices.  If you have any questions please reach out to Sarah Mumm.
