Learner Profile Data Collection/District SIP goal--Celebrate!

Good morning!

Sarah and I are pleased to share that upon completion of the February collection period for Learner Profile implementation, we have met the threshold for a distinguished rating!!

As a reminder, our goal for the year was as follows:

By February 2018, student knowledge and/or application of their learner profile will increase an average of 50% into levels 2 and 3, from the baseline established in September 2017 using the designated rubric. The following rubric will be used:  0- no idea yet, 1- able to share what it is, 2- able to share what it is and how it applies to their learning needs, 3- able to identify, apply to their needs, and advocate for their instruction to be tailored to a need.  Data collected by Admin and Coaches through learning walk visits and quick on the spot discussion with students.

0-no idea yet
1-able to share what it is
2-able to share what it is and how it applies to their learning needs
3-able to identify, apply to their needs, and advocate for their instruction to be tailored to a need

After the initial data collection period, we learned that of the students surveyed the results were as follows:

0-434
1-216
2-31
3-6

Because of these initial findings, this meant that the breakdown for specific categories was as follows:

Unsatisfactory:
-Increase of 20% or less in levels 2 and 3
-Less than 43 students in level 2 added to the current 31, for a total of 75 or fewer in level 2
-Less than 6 students in level 3 added to the current 6, for a total of 12 or fewer in level 3

Needs Improvement:
Increase of 21% to 44% in levels 2 and 3
-An additional 45 to 96 students in level 2, added to the current 31, for a total of 76 to 127 students in level 2
-An additional 7 to 13 students in level 3, added to the current 6, for a total of 13 to 19 students in level 3

Proficient:
-Increase of 45% to 54% in levels 2 and 3
-An additional 97 to 117 students in level 2, added to the current 31, for a total of 128 to 148 students in level 2
-An additional 14 to 17 students in level 3, added to the current 6, for a total of 20 to 23 students in level 3

Distinguished:
-An increase of 55% or more in levels 2 and 3
-An additional 118 students in level 2, added to the current 31, for a total of 149 students in level 2
-An additional 18 students in level 3, added to the current 6, for a total of 25 students in level 3

After our final round of data collection, the results were as follows:
0-107
1-193
2-263
3-115

As you can see, we far exceeded the threshold of students needed in levels 2 and 3 to earn a Distinguished rating!  Please note that some students responses had to be discarded, therefore our total number of students is not quite the same for both collection periods.  However, even with that disparity the distinguished rating was attained!

Therefore, all teachers who took this goal on as one of their student growth goals have earned the distinguished rating for that portion of their goals!

Thank you to all for your hard work in helping implement the learner profile.  This is not a "check box" we can mark off, and it will remain a focus of our work moving forward, but this is definitely a time to celebrate your hard work and the work of our students in reflecting on their learning.
