Canvas Expectation

We wanted to take this opportunity to share that we are at the first check in point of the Canvas module expectation.  As shared in the roadshow last year and again throughout this year, that the first expectation is to have one published Canvas module by the end of February.  At this time we have pulled the full list of all the published modules and shared with buildings.  If have drafted a module but have not published yet, please be sure to publish so we can see the live module to celebrate your work.  Please feel free to contact your 1:1 Learning Coach, Faye, or Patrick and Sarah with any questions at all.  During the month of March we will be contacting staff who have not met this expectation in order to check in on the accountability process.

Important Upcoming Dates

This Spring we are excited to host table talk sessions at each school.  These are opportunities to stop down and chat about proficiency table progress and next steps.  If you have any questions or need a bit of guidance you can always contact Patrick and Sarah anytime, or just stop down during these table talks.  Patrick and Sarah will be housed in the teacher's lounge area during these dates and times:

Feel the Love for PBP Tables- February 14th Table Work

This Friday we will be having a half day of proficiency table work for all teams. All teams need to assess where they are in the steps for proficiency tables creation.  The following is an outline of steps in the process:

Step One:  Determine reported standards through content consensus
Step Two:  Draft the proficiency expectations for each reported standard
Step Three:  Draft the approaching proficiency expectations for each reported standard
Step Four (optional):  Draft other exceptions such as exceeding or  needs improvement
*Note if you know your team as at this point, please be sure to contact Sarah or Patrick to make sure someone can be there to be assigned
Step Five:  Collect student observations and work samples to bet the drafted tables
Step Six:  Peer feedback from vertical teams
Step Seven:  Final edits to the full proficiency table
Step Eight:  As individuals, utilize the proficiency table to create assignment rubrics.  This process is the first time the numerical assessment systems is incorporated.

Please note that the use of 4, 3, 2, 1 assessment system is NOT part of the proficiency table, only the assessment rubrics in a later step in the process.  There will be training and professional growth for all on this process as we move forward to this process.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

KHS:
8-11 Proficiency table groups
11-12 Teach EdCamp
12-1 Lunch and Travel
1-3 Contract Work Time

HMS:
8-12 Proficiency table groups (location determined by group, please communicate with your oversight person)

EC-5:

-The shifts will be further outlined throughout the 2020-2021 school year.
-The team took time to review the first draft of the key terms and the electronic handbook.  Further development of these tools will occur throughout spring and summer.
-The planning of subgroup meetings to finish the year took place.
-Further details and timeline overview will be shared at the spring Roadshows.
-After the Roadshow, a google form will be available to capture any further questions.

Educator Advisory Update

Today, EAC met for their monthly meeting. The following items were discussed:

  • What EAC members will represent items at the building level. This will help all voices in the building be heard.
  • The members went through the 3 core values PBP tables. This was done to look for any final edits and to indicate whether the statement applies to K-2, 3-5 or both.
  • Rigby testing was discussed. A new testing procedure will be used this fall. Teachers will get 2 sub days during a specific window of time to administer Rigby to their HR students. More information will be coming from the RtI coordinators this spring.
  • IgKnight day feedback was discussed. EC-5 thought the mental health offerings were well-received and would like to keep these types of courses available. Members shared other topics for possible future PD.
  • EAC discussed ways to re-energize and boost staff morale. The winning ideas will win a prize for their building.
