The big kick-off (literally!) to our 9th season is Newsies!  Based on the beloved 1992 film, this Broadway show was nominated for 8 Tony Awards.  Our show starts Preview Performances on September 4th – right after Labor Day!

We are thrilled to give you a promo code to save 30% your Newsies ticket purchase.  Use code TEACH on our website to unlock a special price for Seating Zones B-E on the following days:

·        9/4 at 7PM
·        9/5 at 7PM
·        9/6 at 8PM
·        9/11 at 7PM
·        9/12 at 7PM

9-12 Proficiency Table Examples

Over the past few weeks, some groups have asked for samples of completed proficiency tables.  Here are a few to get your ideas flowing.  We look forward to sharing more as they are completed by small groups.  Please note the actionable and observable words used within these samples.  Try to make all attempts to add descriptive words that can be used to observe learning when creating your tables.

Canvas Support Based on Expectations

As we dive deeper and deeper into Canvas, we want to encourage everyone to learn and explore at their own pace. Canvas has so many functions and tools that it can become a bit overwhelming, which is why we were able to designate Faye as a teacher on special assignment to help with the rollout. Our expectations for this year, as shared in this blog dating back to last year, are for staff to have a welcome page and two modules completed by the end of the year. Faye is here to support/troubleshoot/provide PD on these expectations. If you feel confident with these and are ready to move onto some more technical skills, this is great to hear! But please know that in a district of this size, our TOSA may not be able to accommodate everyone's requests for PD beyond what is expected.

We encourage you to try- try on your own, in your KLC, by searching Google, YouTube, or other sources that have proven to be very informative and helpful to some that have already looked into them. If you are running into issues, you may reach out to others to provide some training, but please know this may not be an option depending on the needs of the district staff.

Thank you for your understanding!

Proficiency Table Descriptions

While reading Garth Larson's Grading for Impact book this past week, we came across a few key pages that really will assist all of you in further developing your proficiency tables with actionable and observable words.  Remember it is essential to describe the student actions, behavior, and words they will use when showing you proficiency, and do not describe the content.  You want to focus your table on the student action not the description of what the content words mean.  Please be sure to review the sections below to get further ideas of words to focus on what drafting proficiencies.
