So Impressive! Great Kaneland Pride Day!

This past Friday was such a great celebration of Kaneland Pride!  Not only did the district host Kane County Institute Day, but the number of Kaneland presenters was outstanding.  We had staff from every grade span and every level presenting at one point during the day.  The overwhelming feedback from those outside our district was amazing.  Thank you to all staff who took the time to share their progress and stories of student learning and take a risk and volunteer to present.  It was a day of great learning for all and most of all a day of great pride in our staff!

School Day Reserach Meeting

At this point the School Day Research is ready to meet and share further findings.  We would like to host a meeting on March 21st from 4-5 to update and discuss findings with the team.  We will meet at HMS Library.  We look forward to seeing you all there!

Pilot Bookfair at KBK

As some of you may know by now, we are piloting the Follett Book Fair at KBK.  The intent is to try a new system that is less flashy, more focused on reading and not gadgets, and provides cheaper books that more students can purchase and access.  This is just a pilot to compare the two book fairs.  If you hear any feedback from parents or students, or have some yourself, please email Sarah Mumm or Christine Noel.  We have heard in the past the high expense of Scholastic and the "junk" sold turned off many parents, so we thought we would try something new.  We are eager to compare the fairs and make future decisions.  Thank you to Christine for being a risk taker and trying out the Follett Fair!

Teacher Advisory Council Update

The Teacher Advisory Council met for their monthly meeting on March 5th.  The following topics were discussed.
1.  The group brainstormed ideas on how to inform the community of the switch to trimesters. Ideas that were discussed: Open House PR… possible board that will be shared at open house, parent preview, Joint PTO, FAQ, PTO pages, newsletters from administration -- early and often, Twitter and Facebook and principal coffees.
2.  The group discussed personalized learning and the concept of working from the inner core cells and moving outward.  All staff will experience PL 2.0 by the SIP Days in August.
3.  The Core Values System of Recognition will be a monthly student self-nomination process.  The committee is looking for additional ideas on how to implement this process.
