NIU and Kaneland SBG Research

You are invited to participate in a research study for in-service teachers entitled “Implementation of Standards-Based Grading in Kaneland Public Schools” being conducted by Todd Reeves and Olha Ketsman, faculty members at Northern Illinois University. The purpose of this survey is to assess your implementation of standards-based grading in Kaneland Public Schools.

SAMR Review

Over the course of the year we are growing our knowledge in SAMR and the use of technology in our learning experiences.  We encourage all staff to review the visuals and consider how to use technology to redefine or modify the learning. Knowing, understating and reflecting on SAMR levels is part of our Kaneland Connects 1:1 goals this year.

Blocked Programs for Our District

Please know that Quizlet and Epic is blocked by our district. We understand that this is a popular application that has been used in the past. However, with the new SOPPA law, Quizlet is one of a few applications that do not sign a Digital Privacy Agreement (DPA) and using their applications and sites leaves our staff and students open to breaches of privacy. The company openly shares digital information with several 3rd party companies.

Please remember as an FYI, if using a website that is not approved in LEARN with a DPA, the person promoting the use of the application/site assumes responsibility for breach of privacy. We strongly encourage you to check out LEARN if you have questions on an app/site's status.
