6-12 Social Studies Update

At this time, our social studies teams have vetted a variety of resources and are in the final stages of selection a tool for next year. Our plan over the course of the next month will be to finalize maps and documents to present to the Board in April. We are excited at the breadth and depth of all the tools we saw. Thank you to the teachers and coaches that have played an important role in the process.

Kaneland’s Extraordinary Community and Imagination Contest

This past month we had the pleasure of learning with Jennifer Hayes, a local author.  Our district has TWO author virtual visits to give away for April.  We will be running a contest to identify students and families that are extraordinary or creative. Here is how to enter!

Submit a picture or brief description of a friend, student, family member, or community member that has done something extraordinary to support someone else or that has shown off their imagination by doing something creative.  Be sure to share your student’s name, classroom teacher’s name and school in your email.  Send your submissions to Sarah Mumm at 10358@kaneland.org by March 30th

The two classrooms with the most submissions will win a virtual author visit time.

Kaneland Connects Feedback Goal Data Collection

As we begin to shift towards our common goal for next school, we would like to collect some initial pre-data based on student feedback reflection.  Please take time between April 3rd and April 12th administer and the following survey in order for the district to create the common SIP goal for next year.  This pre-data is essential for determining our baseline.

2nd to 12th grade google form survey

K-1 paper survey

K-1 small group google doc to use if you assess by reading it to small groups and want to direct enter data (this is optional, please choose paper survey or use the small group direct entry option)

We also would like to collect feedback from our staff.   Please share feedback reflections on this google form  by April 12th in order for us to have more information to build our common SIP goal and PD for next year.
