March Nominate a Knight Winner!

We are thrilled to share that our March Nominate a Knight opportunity garnered 11 nominees!! All nominations detailed incredible examples of Kaneland staff developing strong relationships with students, colleagues or the Kaneland community in general. One winner, from among the 11 nominees, was selected at random. Congratulations to Sadie Stark from KME! She was nominated for...

"I am nominating Sadie because of the amazing work that she has done with the Game On Fundraiser. The students raised over $25,000 and a portion of that will be donated to two local charities which is amazing! Sadie involved a group of 5th-grade students to research and choose which charity they wanted to donate to. Through this program, all of the McDole students have learned the power of giving back to those less fortunate and that even a little goes a long way. I am so proud to see what our students have done with Sadie's support and hard work. She has really taught our students the power of giving back and supporting the community."

Preparing for Rigby Assessments

It is that time again, Spring assessment is here! We will begin Rigby assessments very soon. With most of our students back onsite, we will be planning 1 to 1 and a half days for each grade level. In order to make the assessment time very efficient please be sure to give the most accurate and most recent reading level the student has been working on for the assessors to begin near the correct level. We will also be holding a full remote Rigby assessment day on April 21st so your RTI staff will not be in the schools that day. We look forward to a great sessions of assessment.

EAC Membership Seats Open for Next School Year

At this time the Educator Advisory Council is seeking Teachers to fill the council seats for next year. Please see the open seats below. If interested in becoming a member, please contact Alex Hay, Nichole Kenyon, Martne McCoy, or Sarah Mumm. This council is essential for building shared decsion making and discussion.

Early Childhood- 1st Grade: 3 open seats

2nd-3rd Grade: 3 open seats

4th- 5th Grade: 2 open seats

Exploratory: 2 open seats

Flexible Seats: 1 open seat

(Most) State Testing Delayed Until Fall 2021

The state of Illinois is in the process of granting waivers to delay nearly all of our state assessments to the Fall of next year. Students will be taking the 2020-2021 state assessments at that time for their 2020-21 grade level. The state has not released more details, but when they do we will be sure to share!

There are two (2) tests that will be administered this Spring-

*SAT for our Juniors will be held on-site on Tuesday, April 13th. This will shift to an asynchronous day for our high schoolers in grades 9, 10, and 12

*ACCESS testing will be administered to our EL students

Tips for Live Streaming Quarantine Students

Guidelines for Live Streaming Quarantine Students

Begin live stream no later than 24 hours into quarantine
Teachers should make their best efforts to not show quarantine students on the computer, please try to face the computer screen away from the in-person students view
Live Streamed students are required to live stream into the whole class experience this does not guarantee small group discussion and interactions
We would not recommend in-person students logging onto the live stream for breakout room engagement
Any teacher that has a quarantine student will need to check out equipment from the point area (office or LRC, ask at your school). We will make every attempt to not have to share equipment between periods. Currently each K-5 school will have 15 cameras to check out, Middle and High School will begin with 30 to check out
It is the Teacher's responsibility to return the camera to the check out area at the end of the student's quarantine time
