To Be Legacy or Not To Be Legacy
Over the course of the past year of learning and growing in personalized learning, it seems that the word legacy has started to have a negative tone. We want to take a moment and share that all classrooms will be fluctuating around the continuum of learning over the course of the school year. Legacy instruction often happens at the start of the unit of study, or the start of the school year. It is a technique used to give direct instruction and new content overview to students. Once new concepts, rules, or structures are in place, then the learning may begin to shift towards individualized or personalized. The key is knowing when you are using legacy instruction and why. The why should always be based on your knowledge and planning for students' needs. We look forward to continuing the learning and growing this year towards proficiency based progress.
