The Personalized Learning Steering Committee met on Thursday, January 27th. The team continued to discuss, brainstorm, and gain clarity on several logistical topics related to the creation of IgKnight Personalized Learning Academy, including student-driven scheduling, feedback conferences vs. planning conferences, and student: teacher ratios. Additionally, the team reviewed a tentative timeline for communication, recruitment, and hiring. At this time, the goal is to intensify parent communication after Spring Break, gain a solid idea of interested students by November of 2022, and begin posting positions and hiring Academy staff in January 2023. This timeline is subject to change.
On February 8th and 9th, several members of the Steering Committee will be participating in site visits at personalized learning-based middle and high schools in Wisconsin The team created a common observation template to allow for documentation of practices that can be used to guide our work. If you have any specific questions that you would like the team to ask while at the sites, feel free to send them to Laura Garland at 10166@kaneland.org and we’ll add them to our list.
The next PL Steering Committee meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 24th from 4-6pm at Meredith. Any and all interested guests are welcome to attend.
