On Monday the EAC at the E-5 level met for the monthly meeting. The after school meeting was in lieu of the sub time in January due to sub shortages. The following were topics discussed:
The team reviewed the next steps for feedback submitted in December’s electronic meeting.
The team took time to brainstorm and begin to plan topics needed for the SIP and Institute Days for next school year. Final planning will occur administratively over the summer retreat and the final SIP/Institute outline will be sent out in the Back to School letter. In the Spring Roadshow summer PD and general PD topics will be shared with all staff.
The team took time to share ideas that may energize and lessen the teacher burnout. We hope to take the ideas shared to the Administrative Team and implement a few this Winter and Spring.
The team also brainstormed ideas to bring a bit of fun during this Winter and Spring to staff. We are looking for ways to support and appreciate each other.
The team reviewed new curriculum legislation that is being adopted by the State of Illinois The following are most pressing curriculum that will need review and attention are the following:
Sex Ed Standard Update
September 17th celebrated as Constitution Day
PE from 5 to 3 days
Anti-biases education with conflict resolution (Asian American Units of study)
The team discussed the expansion of 1:1 learning for next year to include grades 2 and 3. The team discussed that a video with tips for teachers would be helpful for 2nd and 3rd grade teams.
The team discussed math pre/post assessments so the revamped versions would better reflect the PBP tables. We are looking for two staff members per grade level to do some further summer work on the drafting of pre and post assessments. One staff member as a consult to answer feedback questions and one staff member as part of the drafting team. If interested in representing your grade level during this process please email Sarah Mumm prior to March 1st.
The team discussed the summer school structure and team teaching approach.within grade spans. We will have team taught rooms that cover ELA and Math over the 2.5 hour timeframe. There will be a call for proposals and teachers to teach the program coming out very soon! Start to consider teaching with a partner or proposing an enhancement class.
