As teams and departments begin to finish the drafting of a PBP table for a reported standard, the purpose of the tables is truly two-fold: 1) to use during conferencing with students to share learning expectations, 2) to use for self-reflection on learning practices (students using to self-reflect and self-assess and teachers reflect on learning). We encourage all teachers to meet and conference with a student using the table as the discussion point in the conference. Have the PBP table for the reported standard in front of both you and the student as you ask reflective questions on how the student is showing evidence of the proficiency statements. Ask the student if there is any terms or language they do not understand on the proficiency indicators and have them share evidence of learning. Also use the PBP table to share your observations of their learning based on the indicators as well. We would love to begin to collect video snippets from our very own district on what conferencing could look like. If you are interested in trying a PBP table conference and would allow us to capture and share your video snippet please contact Sarah Mumm. Please remember we are in our first drafts of most PBP tables, so allow yourself grace in not having the language and conferencing practice perfect.
