How to Become a Better Writing Teacher Book Study

 This month K-5 Coaches and Educational Service staff have began to explore the text How to Become a Better Writing Teacher by Carl Anderson and Matt Glover.  The purpose of this book study is to expand ideas and ways to support our staff in writing instruction as well as plan future professional development.  Today we discussed Chapter 1 and 2.  Here were a few takeaways from our discussion for all to reflect and grow from:

A few possible record keeping documents that were shared in the chapters are below.  Record keeping is essential during writing conferring.  Check out the various ways to keep records during conferences. 

How should I take notes on conferences?  There are MANY tools for note-taking, but you will need to find one that works for you.  Check out some examples below (taken from A Teacher's Guide to Writing Conferences):
