Today the Comprehensive Literacy Plan Review Team met to begin the review of the State of Illinois Plan. The following were tasks and updates from the team:
The team reviewed possible timelines and updates on the review of the 7 components of the plan
Grade span groups took an initial review of practices aligned and not aligned to evidence of the plan from the State of Illinois, to meet the expectations in each of the 7 components
The plan is currently adopted in Illinois but no implementation matrix has been approved for public schools at this time
The next steps for the full committee include:
Considering options for further detailed assessment, self-assessment and auditing of our current practices
Further outlining specific detailed discussions around specific practices that the State does not recommend and how they fit into our Kaneland practices
Begin a more detailed review of data literacy and formative assessments
Further explore the concepts of data literacy and digital literacy
The team plans to meet in early December to further the next steps in the planning work. Please feel free to ask any of our members follow up questions. Thank you!
